When I finally decided to start my self-care journey, I had all sorts of ideas about what that meant. I had this whole big plan I was going to follow. . .
When I think back on it now, I had no clue what I was doing.
The plan included:
- Putting myself first (even though that sounded SO wrong!).
- “Nourishing” myself. (though I wasn’t entirely sure what that was supposed to mean)
- Taking nice long, warm baths. . . without kids or husbands (ha! That was never going to happen).
- Long walks along a beach (oh wait, I live nowhere near a beach).
- Starting a beauty routine (though how this was supposed to help my emotional state, I wasn’t sure).
- Daily affirmations (that I’d later forget 10 minutes after the kids woke up)
Ugh! What was I thinking??
I certainly wasn’t thinking with my brain, that’s for sure! I was thinking with my emotions. I just wanted to be happier, and this is what everyone else seemed to say I should be doing. . .
Boy am I glad I found a better way!

Umm if this is so great, why is it free??
Because I see a lot of people blogging advice from 5 years ago that just doesn’t apply anymore. I want to show you a different approach to self-care that actually has the potential to help you find balance, and joy in your life.

Nope, I don’t think so! When I started my self-care journey I read SO MANY blog posts and downloaded dozens of e-books about it – and they all said the same thing. The same 5 things to do in the morning, the same 3 little night time routines I was supposed to have before bed. I tried them all. And yea, they were nice, but it just didn’t feel like they went deep enough. You know what I mean?
So I did something different. I stopped doing what everyone else was doing and started digging deeper into the science behind what I was struggling with and what to do about it.
And guess what? It worked!
I promise, I’m not just regurgitating other people’s advice here – it’s tried and tested by yours truly.
